For people

Use AI. Own the outcome.

Prove your skill with real work, not a résumé

Take on a mission from real work in a cloud workspace, with AI at your side. Submit, and the automatic check tells you what passed, what didn't and what to practise next.

  • Use AI freely
  • Nothing to install
  • Your practice is yours

Why now

The same submission does not mean the same person

AI makes output cheaper every day, so résumés, portfolios and take-homes all look about as good. What stays scarce is the person who knows what to ask the AI for, can check that what came back is right, and owns the outcome. That's what OperatorRank measures.

A made-up exampleThe same-looking submission

Candidate A

  • Reads the logs and documents before asking the AI
  • Has the AI fix the cause, then runs the tests to prove it
  • Rejects a change that breaks what already worked
  • Explains in the Defense why this way

The hidden checks reward root-cause fixes

Candidate B

  • Lets the AI patch each reported symptom
  • The visible tests pass, so they submit
  • Never notices the fix broke something that worked
  • Can't explain it in the Defense

A fix that breaks what worked earns nothing

A résumé or the final code can't tell these two apart. The timeline, the hidden checks and the Defense can.

Missions on day one

Three missions from a real warehouse system

All three are Stockroom, a warehouse service that receives, allocates and picks stock. You get the whole system, plus what the floor reported, the decision records and the runbooks; you work out what the real problems are, then get the AI to fix them right.

Stockroom Full

Deliver the signed receiving, stock-trace, picker and finance-close priorities in a warehouse service without breaking accepted records.

  • 75 min
  • 816 hidden checks
  • Defense required

Stockroom Focused

Repair allocation-ledger, reservation and ASN import behavior in the warehouse service.

  • 60 min
  • 655 hidden checks
  • Defense required

Stockroom Receiving

Repair allocation-ledger, ASN import and expiry/FEFO behavior in the warehouse service.

  • 60 min
  • 531 hidden checks
  • Defense required

What the hidden checks reward

Patching symptoms

  1. Quick one-line patches for each report
  2. The visible tests may all pass
  3. Break something that worked and that fix earns nothing

Scores low

Fixing the cause

  1. Reads the documents and works out which rule is right
  2. Has the AI fix the cause, then checks it really did
  3. Doesn't break what already worked

Points sit on root-cause fixes

The workspace

Work with AI the way you do on the job

Open the browser and start. The workspace lives on our servers, with the system to fix, its documents and an AI you can put to work.

What you get when the mission starts
  • brief.mdWhat happened
  • ops/complaints.mdWhat the floor reported
  • docs/adr/Decision records
  • docs/runbooks/Runbooks
  • logs/System logs
  • stockroom/The system's code
  • tests/The visible tests

Every workspace is separate, with no way out to the internet, and the AI key never sits inside it. If your connection drops or you close the browser, your files stay; come back within the mission's time.

  • Chat with the AI

Tell it what to do; it reads the code, runs commands and edits files.

  • See every file it changes

Every edit shows up as a diff, so you can check it changed the right thing.

  • A real terminal

Run the system, run the tests and use the tools in the workspace yourself.

  • Your own approvals

Have the AI ask before it runs a command, or let it run, as the mission allows.

  • Stop it any time

See it heading the wrong way? Stop it at once and tell it again.

  • The same for everyone

The same time and AI budget, and the same set of models the mission allows.

Defense

After you submit, explain why

After you submit, you talk with an AI reviewer about the work: why you fixed it that way, what you'd do if it broke. All three launch missions require the Defense, and your result shows after it.

  • No score, and no pass or fail
  • In the language you choose
  • Questions come from the work you submitted
  • You can read it back with your result

What you get

Know exactly what passed and what didn't

  1. Between 531 and 816 hidden checks, depending on the mission, give you a BUILD score and a level from C1 to C5 for every piece of the work: what you've reached and what to practise next. The timeline keeps every command and every question to the AI.

  2. Read back how you explained the work and what the AI reviewer asked.

Applying to organisations

Apply with real work, share only what you choose

Organisations post jobs in the same app. You choose what to send them, and you always know first who will see what.

  1. Find an organisation's job

You see the organisation and the role it's hiring for, and apply in the same app.

  2. Check, then agree

Before you apply, you see what the organisation will receive. To show a mission result, add its share link to the application note. If you don't agree, nothing is sent.

  3. Practise on free credits

The launch missions use the free credits on your account; there's nothing to buy.

  • Organisations see only what you send them
  • No AI decides who gets hired
  • Your own practice isn't shared unless you choose to

Fairness and privacy

The same field for everyone

What's recorded

  • Commands, files, diffs and tests run in the workspace
  • The conversation with the AI and the AI budget used
  • The whole Defense conversation

What's never collected

  • Camera or microphone
  • Screen recording
  • Anything typed or opened outside the workspace
  • Same time

The clock runs on the server. Closing the browser doesn't stop it, and nobody can add time.

  • Same AI choices, same budget

The mission sets which models can be used and everyone chooses from that set. The AI key never sits in the workspace.

  • A workspace of your own

No outbound internet, and nothing you do there touches anyone else.

  • No surveillance

No camera, no screen recording, nothing outside the workspace.

  • If we break, you can appeal

Outages are on the record. You get credit back, a retry or a re-check, as the policy says.

  • People decide

No AI hires or rejects anyone. The system gives evidence; a person reads it and decides.

FAQ

Questions from people taking missions

Can't find yours? Email the team. support@operatorrank.com

Can I really use AI?

Yes, and you should use it well. Everyone gets the same time and AI budget, and chooses from the same set of models the mission allows. What's measured is whether you know what to ask the AI for, and whether you can check that what it did is right.

How long does a mission take?

Stockroom Full gives you 75 minutes; Stockroom Focused and Stockroom Receiving give you 60. The server keeps the time and it never stops. The Defense follows after you submit.

What if the AI budget runs out?

The AI has a fixed budget for each attempt. When it's used up the AI stops, but your files, the terminal and the submit button still work. Unused budget isn't refunded.

Who sees my practice results?

Your practice results are private by default, until you choose to share them. When you apply for a job, you see what the organisation will receive before you agree.

Do I have to pay to take a mission?

No. There's nothing to buy: practice uses free credits under your account's terms.

What if my connection drops or I close the tab?

The workspace lives on our servers, so your files stay where they are; come back within the mission's time. The clock doesn't stop, though. If our system is the one that fails, you can report the problem or appeal the result.

What language are the missions in?

The launch missions are written in English; you hold the Defense in the language you choose.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in the browser; the workspace lives entirely on our servers.

Can I use my mission results to apply for jobs?

Yes. Create a share link for a finished result and add it to the note on your application when you apply for a job here; the company opens the result from the link, and you choose which results to share.

Can I show my result to someone else?

Yes. Once a result is out, you can create a share link for it yourself; practice results you don't share stay visible only to you.

Use AI. Own the outcome.

You are on-call. Good luck.

Sign up now and take your first mission from 30 October. Nothing to install.
